It’s going to be a hot weekend: Exercise with caution and drink plenty of fluids. Here are some summer cooler recipes.

Fast food factoids: A new study found that Americans are bad at estimating how many calories are in fast food meals. And even though fast food chains like McDonald’s offers healthier options, not many customers are eating salads. If you don’t favor lettuce, try another option to make your burger healthier. The Washington Post taste tested 37 veggie burgers. Read the results.

Research roundup: Some researchers found that “fat talk” — body-denigrating conversation between girls and women — is so ubiquitous that it often reflects not how the speaker actually feels about her body but how she is expected to feel about it. And a new study suggests that depression, which can be a cause and symptom of obesity, increases the risk of stroke in young women. New research also found that statins, cholesterol-lowering medications, might block some benefits of exercise.
